5 Post-iso pieces to be seen with confidence

Add to your existing wardrobe to look and feel great when it all is a little tighter than usual.

With meetings and photoshoots booked in, it was time to put on my best clothes to look and feel good and present myself publicly. But my regular go-to jeans weren’t making the cut (or the fly exposing from being a little too tight), so I opted for my lager size jeans usually kept for relaxed days at home. I have unexpectedly gained a few kgs over the past few months, and a few clients I had spoken to felt the same. They wanted to push out the dates for their shoot an extra month to get back to feeling their best selves (and fitting into their favourite clothes).

I’m a big believer in feeling comfortable in your body whatever size you are. Still, when you don’t feel so comfortable in your clothes, it can really show and lower your confidence and self-esteem.

So I have curated 5 key pieces that will get you through winter to help you look and feel your best and can be added to your current wardrobe.

  1. The cosey knit.

Knits are great as they are loosely fitted and for me don’t hug my tummy and drape nicely. They are usually a loser fit on the arms and with a flattering neckline can show off your décolletage. Adding a splash of colour brightens up your outfits through winter as well. Styled with a statement earring or necklace, it can hide that bulging zip and give you a boost.

2. Elastic waist pants

This is a tough one for me to say, but after 3 months in activewear tights, a restricted tailored waistline is pushing me out of my comfort zone a little too quick. Luckily a few labels have designed some dress pants with a relaxed waistband that are still flattering. Choose a style without too much extra fabric around the lower abdomen for a less baggy look. Opt for an ankle crop to show a little skin or palazzo pants.

3. The long scarf

Adds colour and personality to a simple outfit while hiding lumps and bumps—great with coats or when you are wearing more fitted pieces.

4. The Silky Shirt

I recently bought a blouse from Witchery that I decided wouldn’t suit me before trying it on in the last minute on the shoot. To my surprise, it was my favourite piece of the day and was very flattering; it is now my ‘go-to’ shirt for meetings. It drapes nicely over my large bust with balloon sleeves finished with a cuff adding beautiful details in a simple classic staple. Here are three others that will look amazing, teamed with jeans or a flowing skirt.

5. The Tailored Blazer

To add structure over your layers, you can’t go past the perfect fitted blazer. If you tend to be on the petite side, go for a cropped option to elongate your figure - these also can be mixed and matched easier with pants and skirts. Longlines look great with pants and heels but can be jarring if worn with a dress or skirt the wrong length.

You may already have these key pieces in your wardrobe so make some time to have a play and mix things up this winter.

I offer personalised styling sessions either for your photoshoot or to update your wardrobe and personal brand. Get in touch and I can send through my styling packages.
