3 Steps to Design Your Year

Every year over the Christmas and New Year holiday period I schedule in time to re-align with my purpose and check in where I am heading in life. Having clarity around your bigger vision gives you purpose and intent in your everyday life, so I wanted to share with you three easy steps to make 2019 a memorable and successful year.


Look back over the past year and write down your highlights. I found the best way to jog my memory was looking back through my insta stories as I always share new experiences and highlights, or through my calendar.

Write down a highlight from each months no matter how big or small, it could have been a simple as discovering a new recipe or restaurant, or as big as climbing Mount Everest. Something that brings a smile to your face and makes you feel good inside.

From the reflections you will realise the moments that were important to you, that you enjoyed and were memorable. We want to make more of these for 2019.


Take 5-10 minutes to write down all the things you have ever wanted to do or achieve, think back to when you were a kid. It is a good reminder and putting pen to paper brings you a step closer, and don’t worry if you can do it this year or in 10 you have now put it out into the universe.

If you’re an entrepreneur or business owner you may find yourself writing lots of career goals but try to have at least 5 for your personal life too. Think about activities you want to try, places to visit, experiences with friends, food to eat. Then in business - connections to make, new products or services, financial goals.


In your journal write each month of the year leaving a few lines in between, then below every month write one of these dreams or a step closer you can make for a bigger goal. Visually seeing your year laid out in front of you gifts you something to look forward to every month and also where you have gaps and time . It also helps in the realisation of what is actually achievable in one year.

After you have filled in each month you can add 1 year, 5 years and 10 years for those bigger goals.

Every year I do this sometimes in a 1 hour sometimes I spend a whole weekend going in depth. I also look back on what I have written in the previous year and always amazed how much I actually achieved.
